Functional HarmonyOver the last 300 years music has evolved into what we call Functional Tonal Harmony. Practically 99% of every style of music that's heard on the radio uses Functional Harmony.Functional Harmony means that certain sounds want to follow other sounds. The nuances in music are consistent and follow prescribed movements. The combinations of these movements are practically unlimited, but the basic movement themselves rarely vary. Throughout this course we
will discover these laws of movement, and learn how to utilize them to
create our own music. When you have completed the entire series,
you will be able to compose music easily, and have the resources to create
unlimited variety to your songs. You will be a composer, and have
the same thrill that classical, pop, country, jazz and other composers
have enjoyed. You will also have a unique camaraderie with these
and other composers, you will begin to feel what they felt, be moved as
they were moved. You will have the tools to be creative.
